Structural Modifications
To ensure the structural integrity of the building, our structural engineers made several modifications in the design of the structure.
- Additional truss: The structure had four trusses. After careful calculations, we concluded that these four trusses are not sufficient to provide essential structural support.
Therefore, we added a fifth truss to the roof to meet wind load specifications, as required by Australian building codes.
- Roof batten spacing: We adjusted the spacing of roof battens to comply with local standards.
- Web members: We added web members to the trusses for increased structural integrity.
Lifespan Enhancement
These flat pack tiny homes come with a standard life-span of 20 years. However, the building codes for Queensland Australia want a 50-yearr lifespan for residential buildings. Increasing the lifespan of the structure was a challenging task.
To achieve this goal, we proposed the following solutions that helped achieve a minimum lifespan of 50 years thus making it compliant with Australian standards.
- Interior framing: We added extra framing on the interior to extend the lifespan of the structure.
- Steel construction: We ensured that all external components were made of steel to enhance durability and fire resistance.
- Cladding: We applied cladding to the exterior of the building to protect the interior framing and sandwich panels.
